The pieces are made of premium raw MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) which is an engineered wood product. They are meant for Indoor use only. They are laser cut so you may expect a burnt wood smell, char marks or dark edges. You can paint over them or wipe them away with a magic eraser sponge. The smell goes away with time.
